Portrait Painting Process

Ed is Blessed with a rare ability to capture the likeness and individuality of a person’s face. He strives to make each Portrait he paints, a timeless work of art that will last a lifetime. He accepts Private, Wedding and Corporate Commissions.

Ed’s Painting Project Process

Our Initial Conversation – At this point it is good to discuss the size of the painting that the client would like, who the subject or subjects will be, whether it will be a formal or informal pose and setting, whether it is to be an interior or exterior setting and what the background will be.

Agreement – Once the initial details have been decided, Ed will submit a Written Proposal, with a price and with all of the painting project details spelled out.

The Sitting – will be a photography session, that will usually last an hour or 2. Complex compositions may take a little longer. Ed is willing to travel for the sitting to make your Portrait become a reality.

A Miniature Quick Study – will be painted by Ed with the proposed general colors, for the acceptance of the client before the Actual Portrait begins.

The Portrait – will be a high quality oil painting, on Fine Quality Belgium Linen. It will be an Archival Quality painting that will last for generations. Ed will provide a signed Certificate of Authenticity with the painting.

Payment Schedule

5% Payment will be required at the time the Proposal is accepted and signed.
20% Payment will be required at the conclusion of the sitting.
25% Payment will be required once the Miniature Quick Study is accepted.
Final 50% will be required at the completion of the Portrait.

Complimentary Services – Helping to select a frame and helping to select an ideal hanging location.

Extra Charges – For any changes to the Proposal details that the client requests. Frames, Shipping Fees or Travel expenses. Other extras may apply.
